Planning the Perfect Pizza Party
Tuesday, April 16, 2013 14:04A pizza party can be the perfect choice for many events. Not only is it the easiest way to plan your party with regards to food selections, most people simply love pizza and if you are planning a party for children or teenagers, you can never go wrong when you plan a pizza party. The planning itself takes very little time and you can have everything ready when your guests arrive.
You can choose to have your pizza party at a local restaurant or you can opt for pizza delivery to your home or other location. If you are planning a pool party for instance, you can simply order the pizzas that you will need ahead of time and have them delivered at the time you have chosen for the food to be served. Knowing how many pizzas you need may take a bit of calculation. As a general rule, you should allow for 2 to 3 slices of pizza per person who is attending. This of course does not really apply to younger children. If your party is for toddlers or children up to 5 years of age, plan for 2 slices per child and then 2 to 3 slices for any older children or adults who may be attending as well.
When ordering it is also important that you choose a variety of toppings. Not everyone is going to like the same type of pizza so try to alter your selections to meet a number of different preferences. You may want to divide your pizza types by cheese, cheese and meats and vegetarian or supreme with a number of toppings. If you have time and you want to do a bit of extra work, send out invitations and ask everyone to RSVP with their chosen pizza toppings so that you can get an idea of what to order. You certainly do not want to run out of one type of pizza and have several slices of another type simply because you did not offer selections that your party guests enjoy.
After the pizza has been ordered, you may want to determine if you are going to offer other foods as well. Chips and dip, vegetable platters and other foods are relatively inexpensive and easy to make and can be a great accompaniment to pizzas. You may also want to simply choose side items that are on the menu at the pizzeria. Cheese and breadsticks as well as garlic breads and other foods are often offered by pizza restaurants and complement pizza very well.
This would be a good time also to determine just what your pizzas are going to cost. Make sure that you order them at least a day ahead of time. While most pizzerias will be able to get your order together within an hour or so, if you have a large order you want to ensure that the restaurant has enough staff on hand to get it finished on time. You cannot expect one or two people to be able to make 40 pizzas in an hour so remember to order well in advance so that you have them when you want them.
