Playing Cribbage with the In-Laws
Saturday, February 4, 2012 6:56When it comes to having in-laws, I really didn’t know what to expect from my marriage. Looking back at all the movies that I have watched over the years, there was not a clear picture of how your in-laws would be. Sure, I could be lucky and have the perfect ones that loved everything I did, but I knew that things were surely not going to turn out that way. But little did I know that my wife did have great parents and in fact, they are over tonight playing cribbage with us.
On one hand, I am really happy that they made it over tonight to play cards with us, but on the other hand, I am not. Now, I’ll just clear up my discontentment with the situation right now: the only reason I am not happy is that I am not winning. I guess I am a bit of a poor-sport, but I have been trying to keep that to myself. Sure, if you know me at all, you would notice that I am angrily puffing on my E-cig a lot more than usual, but I think I am doing an ok job of disguising my discontent with how things are playing out.
But on the good side of things, it is nice that her parents are here. Since my parents live so far away and we never see them, it is nice that we can spend some time with her parents. In fact, I often wonder if anyone else cares about spending time with their parents in this day and age. When you consider that most of my friends communicate with their families through texting on their mobile phones or through Facebook, I really feel blessed that her parents take the time to come see us in person. Now, only if they would let us win a game or two of cribbage, things would be perfect.
